Move Beyond Depression With Supportive, Mindful Counseling
Do you often feel like you’re simply getting through the day rather than truly living it? Maybe you notice:
- A loss of joy or passion for the activities that once nourished you
- Irritability or frustration over small things
- Fatigue, heaviness, low motivation, or difficulty concentrating
Depression can feel like a dense fog coloring everything you do — relationships seem to fall by the wayside, dreams are put on the backburner, and your self-esteem takes a hit. Sometimes, merely getting out of bed can feel like climbing a mountain.
Yet somewhere beneath the weight of it all, there may still be a part of you that remembers hope…who believes healing is possible…and is brave enough to seek support.
That courage matters and we will meet you there.
If You’re Struggling With Depression, You’re Not Alone
Approximately 330 million adults across the world experience depression. Many may appear outwardly successful while feeling like they’re falling apart inside. In fact, many people believe that depression can be overcome through sheer willpower. But depression isn’t a character flaw or a lack of effort — it’s a complex condition involving the brain, nervous system, and emotional experiences.
It can be connected to trauma, chronic stress, or co-occurring conditions like ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or borderline personality disorder (BPD). When the nervous system is overwhelmed, pushing harder only deepens the struggle. In many cases, depression is the result of life transitions and difficult circumstances, such as:
- Work stress or burnout
- Caregiver or parenting stress
- Divorce (or getting married)
- Grief and loss
- Moving or going to a new school/college
- Dealing with a chronic illness
Whether your depression has a clear cause or feels like it came out of nowhere — it is real, valid, and deserving of care. That’s why therapy with the right specialist is so important— it can help you get to the bottom of your depression and understand what’s really fueling it.

When Disconnection Fuels Depression, Connection Heals It
Depression often drives us to isolate and withdraw. Yet human connection is one of the most powerful antidepressants we have. The more connected you are—to others, yourself, and the world around you—the less room there is for depression to cloud your perspective and control your emotions.
While disconnection may fuel depression, connection can be the foundation of healing. With down-to-earth therapists who encourage authenticity, our approach to therapy is personalized for each client. We offer depression counseling for individuals, families, and groups.
At Harmony Harbor, we are a vital resource for clients after being discharged from inpatient and residential programs. Through evidenced-based care, it is our intention to work together to break the hospitalization cycle and create sustainable wellness.
Rediscover Possibility Through Whole-Body Therapy for Depression
Many people with depression have tried so much already: different therapists and therapies, various medications, lifestyle changes…yet they still feel stuck. When repeated efforts don’t help, it’s natural to start believing nothing ever will. This feeling — known as learned helplessness — can deepen the depression itself.
Even when depression convinces you otherwise, however, there are paths toward healing. With the right support, you can interrupt the cycle of helplessness and rediscover possibilities for joy and recovery.
At Harmony Harbor, we take an integrative and holistic approach to depression therapy — one that supports the mind, body, and nervous system together. Our therapists are not passive observers; we are genuinely engaged and relational clinicians who will walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and clinical expertise.
Rather than just reducing symptoms temporarily, we’ll focus on what lies underneath: the nervous system patterns, emotional wounds, and life experiences that keep depression in place. By blending brain-based, evidence-informed care that goes beyond cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and includes somatic and mindfulness practices, we will help you build coping skills that last and restore a sense of connection, empowerment, and joy.
We support individuals across the lifespan — children, teens, and adults — and work collaboratively to develop actionable plans focused on sustainable wellness, not quick fixes. We prioritize individualized care for children and adults who may be experiencing:
- Perinatal and postpartum mental health
- Trauma-related depression
- Treatment-resistant depression
- Aging-related concerns
- Challenges related to neurodivergence
You deserve care that reconnects you with possibility — and with your own inner resilience.
Go Beyond Cognitive Behavioral Therapy And Find Relief From Depression
The main intervention that our practice uses to treat depression is a form of super-charged Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT provides accountability and support for those experiencing chronic depression (dysthymia) and clinical depression.
With real-life skills and real-time support, DBT offers mindfulness-based practices that can help you:
- cope during your most distressing moments
- understand and embrace your emotions
- build healthy relationships and improve your communication skills
- practice self-compassion and self-respect
- decrease urges and thoughts of self-harm or suicide
With a combination of individual and group therapy, our DBT therapy program takes about 6 months to complete and involves a packed-full skill workbook that we’ll work through in a collaborative setting.
Somatic Counseling For Depression Offers Hope
We are passionate about providing alternatives to traditional depression treatments by offering proven whole-body approaches. We draw from a wide range of practices that help regulate the nervous system and shift severe depression symptoms. These holistic modalities include:
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy to help you zoom out, see the bigger picture, and tap into insights and discoveries that lie beneath the surface of conscious awareness
to help you reconnect with the world around you, activate curiosity, and move from an empowered place
to challenge yourself through the use of characters, story-telling, movement, and other embodied activities
to enlist the creative process as a means of personal expression, sensory integration, and social connection
to relieve depression symptoms that are connected to trauma, loss, and intrusive images and sensations
to help reduce rumination and create a present-moment sense of calm in your body
to support healthy digestion, manage inflammation, balance the nervous system, and promote healthy sleep
Recovery is possible. No matter how severe your depression symptoms are right now, you deserve a space where you can heal, rebuild confidence, and reconnect with hope.
You May Have Some Questions About Depression Therapy…
Regardless of how busy you are, we encourage you to take this time for yourself—therapy is an investment in your wellbeing and your future, and it can ultimately make it easier to manage the busyness of your life. We have counselors who can meet with you in the morning, on the lunch hour via telehealth, or even after traditional working hours. We do our best to accommodate your schedule and your needs, and even if we have to work at a slower pace, progress is possible.
Child and teen therapy with us always involves parents and family systems. While your child will of course attend one-on-one time with their therapist, we also believe that the adults in their life need support too. We’ll frequently check in with you to get your feedback and talk about your child’s progress. We’ll also discuss our parent support groups, which can provide you with skills to utilize with your child at home.
Your care is confidential and protected. You deserve a place where your mental health is taken seriously and your privacy is fully respected. The fear of being judged is very real — especially for communities like BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folx who have historically faced harmful stigma and barriers to care. We honor your identity, your boundaries, and your pace.
Therapy is an act of courage — and choosing to care for your wellbeing is never something to be ashamed of. You’re welcome here, exactly as you are.
